Grocery delivery services are perfect for those who can’t stand the crowds at the grocery store. They also benefit to those who simply don’t have the time to make it to the store every week. Ordering your groceries online and having them delivered is the most convenient way to get fresh foods to your pantry.
Grocery delivery services vary in practice, but generally the online sign up is similar:
- Use your Google or Yahoo search engine to locate an online grocer that you would like to try
- If you adhere to a special diet – such as kosher or organic you may be surprised how many options are available online
- Choose an online store that delivers to your area. You can narrow your search by including your city and state in your search query.
- Include "grocery delivery" and your city of residence in the search query
- Once you locate an online grocer you like, enter your zip code to ensure deliveries can be made to your area
- Next, register as a customer – enter your name, address, and other required delivery information
- Start shopping by picking a category – produce, baked goods, deli or frozen foods
- Check off specific food items to see the price. Many stores will even provide pictures and nutritional information.
- If you want the product, add it to your online cart
- When you’re finished, save your grocery list, review it and click “checkout”
- Next you can schedule a delivery time
- Enter your credit card details for payment
- Now just sit back and wait for your groceries to arrive at your front door!
Tips for grocery delivery:
- Grocery delivery is never exact – be prepared for a window spanning a half-hour on either side of the delivery time you’ve selected
- Make sure you’re at home for the delivery. If you’re not, you'll be charged to have your groceries redelivered.
- If you’re having tobacco or alcohol delivered, an adult (21-years or older) must sign for the delivery
- Most websites will include a note on whether tipping is necessary – most don't allow tipping
